Las Kellies from Buenos Aires play minimal punk while sing in Spanish, Catalan, French, Japanese and English languages.

They stand before Euro Tour Aug 5 – Oct 19 > Italy, France, Belgium, UK, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Austria, Croatia (Zagreb, Sept 18), Spain. Luckily they don’t want to save the World – „What do you daydream about when you are travelling to and from shows? – Buy a house in Uruguay by the beach with goats and ducks and growing tomatoes and buying really nice shoes.” – so I like them.

The Destruction Unit started as a synth-punk solo project by Ryan Rousseau (Reatards, Black Sunday, Digital Leather etc.) in Memphis in 2000. Then Jay Reatard (Reatards, Lost Sounds, etc.) and Alicja Trout (Lost Sounds, Black Sunday, River City Tanlines etc.) joined to him. The first 2 DU album made by them. The band has been through many members and sounds. At the moment they play psychedelic space hard rock, but „we all come from punk backgrounds and we’ve always been a punk band.”

Gibby has short hair and almost looks normal, except for that he’s completely naked.

It’s certain already that the RNR666 supports the Canadian independent music. Yesterday were the Ketamines and there was mentioned of Mr Paul Lawton, who criticizes the Canadian music industry. Now completely accidentally another Canadian band from same city where Mr Lawton is living: Lethbridge: Fist City. By reason of their first video in fundamentalist Christians view they are “Satan worshiping reptilian hermaphrodites” who play very good noisy garage punk with a little surf and indie (but just as much as the Sonic Youth) moods. Their second song is a cover.
On the other side of the 7” is the Piss Test from Portland (US). They play classic 80s American hc-punk. I think they have some kind of Hungarian connection, because there is their second track, the Necrophilia’s subtitle: It’s Halal (halál = death in Hungarian). Oops! „halal adj 1. (of an animal or its meat) slaughtered or prepared in the manner prescribed by Islamic law.” Thanks to the punk I have become cleverer today.
The split will be released by Drunken Sailor

Obnox is the solo project of Bim Thomas (drums) from Bassholes, Puffy Areolas & This Moment is Black History. He has wanted to do a recording that raw and blown out, done quickly for cheap. Opened up the four track tape machine with a lot of scotch whiskey and reefer around…

1. Paul Lawton was teaching media and digital culture at the University of Lethbridge for five years and really hated it.
2. He has started a blog with Death to the Canadian Music Industry subtitle, „because I love Canadian music so much and I feel sad about the state that it’s in.”
3. He is one of the two core members of the Ketamines and plays bass:

One thing I knew before getting acquainted with the music of Hunx & his Punx is that punk can handle any sort of weirdness basically, the more, the better. But I remember how I couldn’t really tell if it’s love or hate when it comes to Seth Bogart and his style – is gay punk just a stupid joke? Or is it something that new bands are really lacking maybe? Since the irresistible pop tunes of Hunx & his Punx took the control out of my hands, I don’t really care if it’s trashy and sometimes disgusting – as long as it’s fun and my parents would definitely hate it (oh and one more thing, I just love Shannon Shaw who’s also a lead figure in the band)
Here’s their new album, titled Street Punk, a twisted attempt, you might think and you are right. I’ve heard it somewhere that if you want to make an album as quick as possible, you should turn to street punk – so, whenever I hear the album title, I smell a big deal of irony – needless to say, even though the new songs have a more overdriven sound (especially the opening track Bad Skin), it’s really far from street punk. But would you miss the soundtrack of supermasculine agression when you can have super-witty ill-behaved fun garage songs instead??
If you like to giggle, here’s a new video with 3 Hunx tracks and hilariously careful narration – the album is available from Hardly Art Records, one of my favorite labels these days!
