The Attic is above a disco club on the main street of the southern town of Dunedin, New Zealand. Established in 2011 as a workspace for a group of artists who no longer wanted to work from their bedrooms. The place has evolved into a makeshift recording studio, practice space, gallery, workshop and a sometimes venue. Striving towards creative sustainability, The Attic is now a homespun cassette label.

On the first Tuesday of every month The Attic releases a new exclusive single by one of their favourite local artists. The A-side comprises an original recording of the band, the B-side is a cover nominated by The Attic residents. Both tracks are recorded in The Attic and delivered to your ears for free. At the end of the year the collection will be compiled into one physical release. The second single (the first in this year) is made by a surprisingly good punk band, Ostrander Aardvark

“I believe in the Lord, but the blues speaks to life, too. Blues has a feeling just like gospel; they just don’t have a book” – said Leo ‘Bud’ Welch. Born in 1932, Sabougla, Mississipi. Big family: 5 brothers and 7 sisters. Learning to play on guitar, harmonica and fiddle by himself. Working as a logger. Singing gospel in churches and playing blues whenever he gets chance up to this day. A blues, Praise His Name

The Family Fodder was founded in London in the mid-70s by the multi-instrumentalist (and only constant member) Alig Fodder. Their music is a very witty mix of new wave, pop, punk, rock, folk, disco, chanson and classical music, spiced with psychedelic moments, French and German lyrics and reggae style dub. Their first release was a mini album tribute to Blondie in 1979.

An unusual techno track from the Glasgow based Polish experimental music artist Ela Orleans under the name of TRACT. Light In Extension:
You can listen to „usual” Ela Orleans songs here. She said about music: „the sonic equivalent of perhaps a Tanguy painting or post-punk from the Gaslamp Era.”
