A totally superfluous story in short

Black Flag was an influential American hc-punk band between 1978–1986. The band formed in 1976 as Panic, but there was another Panic, so they changed the name. The new name and the logo were given by the guitarist’s brother, the artist Raymond Pettibon.
The two emblematic figures were the co-founder, only constant member, main songwriter Gregg Ginn and the singer Henry Rollins (1981-86). The Black Flag records were published by Ginn’s record label.
In his book Rollins wrote that Ginn called him in August 1986: „He told me he was quitting the band. I thought that was strange considering it was his band and all.”

2012. September: Henry Rollins and Keith Morris (co-founder) have applied for the trademarks for the name and the logo. The judgement of the claim is under way by US Patent and Trademark Office. Morris was the original singer. The band entered the studio in late 1979 to begin recording their first LP. Before the end of the procession Morris smashed his records and guitar and walked out screaming, quitting and refusing to complete the album.

2013. January: Gregg Ginn and Ron Reyes (singer 1980) have reformed the band.
Spring: ex-members have formed a nostalgia band and began performing under the designation Flag together with the logo.
June: Ginn’s record label, the SST has applied for the trademarks for the name and the logo.
August: Ginn thinks the rights of the name and logo belongs to him and sues the Flag members (1-3 & 5-6 points), Morris (Flag member, all points), plus Rollins (3-6 points).

In accordance of the new „Made in America” act the Federal Trade Commission barred export of their new album, titled: „We’re an American Band” in 2005. Under the legislation, companies advertising products with the term „America”, „American”, „US” or USA” must file certification documentation that „all or virtually all” of the product-including processing and labor that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. Since the band claimed „we are an American band” so the FTC is required proof of national origin of each band member. They refused it. The singer is Barry White. It’s not a joke. It’s his real name. He has changed it to Barrence Whitfield because of a famous singer has changed his name to Barry White ten years before. He was 11 in 1966 when „My uncle took us to see the James Brown Revue and that was my first witness of a fantastic show. (…) all the girls were screaming and the guys were going AAAHHH!!! It was wild. It was probably the biggest moment of my life.” Smaller, but important moments: after the gospel choir he became a drummer, and played funk, soul and prog rock music.

1983 Boston: after his punk (DMZ) and garage rock (Lyres) band the guitarist Peter Greenberg has decided to form an instrumental rock and roll band, but Barry White upset his plans when he began unexpectedly singing at the record store where they worked. Moreover it came to light that both men very like the old rock and roll records. Naturally they recorded some old hits to their albums. And those shows! „The people ripping the seats from the floor and people were diving into the audiences.”

After two albums the original line-up disbanded in 1986 because of Greenberg and the bassist moved on, but Barrence rebuilt and kept alive the band until 1994. The three core member reunited in 2010 and now

Those were certainly very comic acts when the two founders looked for mates, because the condition was: to play any kind of instrument is absolutely needless. – Do you feel like joining us? – But I don’t play any instruments. – Why it’s great! The name of the style is death rock (for me). I feel it. This mood flows from their music. Moreover it is a good slogan. Chiefly If I add that: industrial punk. Pop.1280
