Your Chinese tour has ended now. Whereabouts you were? What was it? Did you see and experience interesting things?

The White Hills has started in the early 2000s. Dave W. was dissatisfied for previous bands and decided to start his own one. He played every instrument on the early recordings, but has found a fix mate, the bassist Ego Sensation soon. Dave W. was discontented with the audience in the US too. “Fuck the States! I’m not gonna bust my ass to drive hundreds and hundreds of miles to play to nobody.” He has got his main musical influences from England and Germany: Hawkwind, Pink Faires, PIL and NEU!, Amon Duul II, so they went to Europe to search audience for their heavy psychedelic rock. And there they have meet with success. After a self-released CDr (2003) the first White Hills album on label released in 2005 by Julian Cope’s Fuck Off & Di Records in England. Since then they have been releasing their works continuously by various labels. And they are a really active band. The brand-new dose: So You’re… So You’ll Be. I don’t want to write about it too many. The point: heavy psychedelic space rock. Sometimes emerge a little Twin Peaks feeling there, but perhaps only for me. Maybe it is the first case that there isn’t 10+ minutes track on their record, so it is a receptible album for those who better like the hard rock and roll than the heavy psychedelia. Listen!

Them Wolves come from Birmingham & play fine classic noise rock. In all probability their genre is predestined by the genius loci. Here is Birmingham’s coat of arms with the double hammers

There is tradition that every boy gets a little hammer and every girl gets a small palette at age of 6 from the City Council. They get the second one at age of 14. The third one is bought by them from their first salary. The ancient wealthy families have a separate large room for the hammers and palettes in their residence, and in center of the room stands the family anvil. But almost every Birminghamian household have a smaller or bigger family anvil. In every year there is a big march on the fest of the city. Under way the men do a strike to the Anvil of the City which is put to the principal square. The females paint a huge canvas which is pre-drawn by a famous artist. The painting sells by auction for charity. These are symbolic acts of forge of the community into unity. Them Wolves transfer this forge into music with guitars and drums. Their really great debut EP
sets them into illustrious company: Jesus Lizard, Laughing Hyenas, Unsane, Pissed Jeans or Zeni Geva. Yes, the Zeni Geva.
The EP is a joint release by It’s Just Noise & Distorted Tapes
plus Putin & homophobia: Like a Red Prison:
They had better direct so much energy to their music as to their actions. The boredom kills the ideals.

This Time I Got A Reason
Debut album on Oct. 10 by In The Red

by Hardly Art
ps: There is a cover of an early Beastie Boys
The original was played by The Strangeloves in 1965. This was a fictional band created by a producer group: Feldman, Goldstein, Gottehrer. The members played significant roles in the careers of War, Blood Sweat & Tears, Richard Hell, Blondie, Fleshtones, Circle Jerks, Sly & The Family Stone, etc. Gottehrer produced the Dum Dum Girls’ debut full-length album and continues producing them to this day.
Then comes the famous cover by Bow Wow Wow from 1982. The band was created by Malcolm McLaren after the Sex Pistols. The third one is from the Megapuss, a joke band with Devendra Banhart and Fabrizio Moretti (The Strokes) among others. They have written own peculiar lyrics in 2008. And now here is an up to date version by the experimental electronic duo, Matmos: I Want Snowden

You get it; put it and some moments hence you get the bang! Such is a perfect start for a rock and roll record. And the Rock’n’Roll Rorschach starts exactly in this way. But in this case there are the recognition and the surprise too in the bang of first track. Hey! Where did I hear this rhythm? Where? Where? Got it! The Evil Eye rhymes with Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life and not only with its title. And Iggy and The Stooges stay with us throughout. Moreover they whip out a saxophone too. But the Lantern has got mood to the sax from the Rolling Stones’ Exile in Main Street album. They listened to it around the recording time luckily for us. Their music is hard rhythm’n’blues & raw rock’n’roll, sometimes such like a little slow-motion Cramps. Yes, the Philly trio has made such a great album that their every ideal could proud of it.
By the way
„Any dream bands you’d love to tour with in the future?
