What Do You Think About Turkish New Wave?

Have you any idea of it?
Please let me introduce Kirik Cizgi to you.
It’s a keyboard-bass-drums trio with post punk inspired irrational melodic structures.
In Koppány’s view: „They are a bit like cooler No Wave bands like Bush Tetras or Talking Heads. But when I hear them I always have Czech bands in my mind,
like Psí Vojaci, Uz Jsme Doma, or sometimes the Russian N.O.M. (the early).
But Csikar had right when he said, ‘the Turkish Dragibus’, which is true for a few songs.”

CLARIKA

Her name is Claire Keszei. Daughter of a Hungarian catholic poet István Keszei. He was a refugee of Hungarian revolution of 1956. During the revolution in Székesfehérvár he wrote articles about snarly Russian tanks instead of smiley Russian tanks. Later he wanted to settle back to homeland, but his petitions were steadily refused, although a well-known Hungarian poet Sándor Csoóri also interceded for him. The decision seems enigmatic, because he was a totally harmless person. Perhaps they read his poems… He died in 1987, two years before the fall of communism.

After some punk and rock bands Clarika met a Belgian fellow Jean-Jacques Nyssen, and together made her first album in 1993. And since then so on. Her music is an iverylike mix of rock, punk, folk, pop and traditional French chansons.

Sex & Death, Love & Jealousy, and other Gruesome Dualities

Saul Conrad is a classically-trained American musician. Almost impossible to categorize his peculiar music: experimental chamber „pop” with surprising key changes, nonsensical rhythmic shifts, overlapping melodies, and folk elements.  His third album is more listener friendly than the previous two. There are easy melodies instead of experiments. But at the same time it’s a very serious album. Perhaps it’s more serious than the previous ones.

The non-musical influences: Kierkegaard. Especially his book about the despair, “The Sickness Unto Death.” Surprising or not, in Japan the book of the Danish existentialist philosopher is living its own renaissance as anime, manga and video game soundtrack. By the way, always the same thing occurs to me from Kierkegaard (1813-1855): during a night I read through his work titled Either/Or, then I vomited out of the window – but that is quite another story.

The Four Zoas: The torments of Love & Jealousy in The death and Judgment of Albion the Ancient Man.” It’s a prophetic book by English romantic poet William Blake (1757- 1827). Conrad’s album title “A Tyrant And Lamb” references to a pair of poems of Blake: The Tyger, and The Lamb, about the dualism of nature and God. Conrad sings about alternation of this duality in the human sphere.

And now the gruesome list of musicians who have influenced on this album

Blaze Foley, the Duct Tape Messiah, country outsider, was „a genius and a beautiful loser” according to Lucinda Williams, was shot to death at his age of 39 in 1989.

Gram Parsons of The Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers, alcohol, drugs, overdose, 26.

Townes Van Zandt, country music outsider, in the 70s, when the bigger part of his highly praised life-work was released he lived outside of Nashville in a tin-roofed, bare-boards shack with no heat, stayed almost entirely unknown until the 80s, when Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard covered one of his songs, which became a number one hit, and he played at dive bars and lived cheap motels invariably until January 1, 1997, when his femoral neck fracture and his delirium tremens were treated with vodka and weed for good, and stayed 52 for ever.

Harry Nilsson, singer/songwriter, nothing special except for his songs, but a heart attack, 52.

Syd Barrett, the most creative member of the early Pink Floyd, for the most part he wrote the first album alone, LSD, became unable to play in the group, two solo albums in 1970 and nothing more, but a nine parts composition by Pink Floyd to tribute to him in 1975, titled Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Died in 2006 at his age of 60.

Elliott Smith, singer/songwriter, alcohol, drugs, paranoia, suicide, 34. Strange fact, in 1997 he released an album titled Either/Or, which is based on Kierkegaard…

I’m sure, you are very curious

Sting is an Idiot

The Plan – To Play Ducks and Drakes of 340 Million

Uncle Sting has declared that his children shouldn’t expect big inheritage, because he wants to run through his entire fortune. If those were not just void words, he must think about his agenda seriously, because he must spends all of his money in a way that he may hold shares, properties, jewels, works of art, luxury cars, helicopters, yachts, briefly, any kind of valuable things only temporarily in the following 20-30 years.

For the sake of the cause it is absolutely necessary to sell his author’s and neighbouring rights immediately, to end his works and to concentrate on this mission alone. He must run through roughly 340 million dollars in, let’s say, 30 years. Almost 11 million a year!

The simplest method is the combination of gambling and space tourism. A plain suborbital flight: 200 000 (but it’s so underclass), a real orbital: 40 million, the flight to the moon is under construction, but it will be about 100 million USD/person.

Furthermore he can invest his money to such promising enterprises as whale hunting expedition to Cincinnati, fast food restaurant chain of Western-Sahara, or RNR666. I also know some artists of starvation whose works will still be worthless after 100 years. He can safely buy anything from them.

But I think that Sting doesn’t know what he says. Obviously he went off his chumps. He should be put under guardianship before he does something madness, for example a musical about his life.

Deathstyle – Doc Neeson

Unfortunately I have heard nothing about Doc Neeson (1947-2014)
while I haven’t seen this video in which four Australian underground bands
(Fait Accompoli, The Rumours, Lepers and Crooks, Dead Bear)
perform together one of his songs

Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again

to pay tribute to him. Yes, he really is a rock’n’roll legend in Australia.

The Second Best Rock and Roll Band of the World

NATCHILD_bp1

The Natural Child is one of the best rock’n’roll bands recently. They started as a trio in Nashville, 2009. They are mixing garage rock, blues and punk elements in their music. During the years they have been influenced by the roots of rock and roll, so their blues burns with more power, their rock has a pretty heavy taste and they also add country elements to their music, while they just simply keep the élan of punk.

The Second Best Rock and Roll Band of the World

an interview with Seth (g/v)

Nashville is the capital of country music. How does it influence the average days there?

In Nashville everything is from the country, or from its profits. Many offices and bureaus use the Peace in the Valley (really very famous country song) for when they put you on hold on the phone. Country music also determined my life, because my grandfather was an excellent country guitarist. He played with Red Foley and Hank Williams. Lots of celebrated musicians took part in his famous all night long boozing and playing music in his home, like Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, one or twice Elvis Presley. My father could tell about these parties. I smoked weed for the first time on a morning after a party like this. I was nine or ten. My mother sent me over to grandpa for something. Everybody was sleeping, except Willie Nelson (multiple Grammy winner country legend) . He was sitting in the garden and offered me his cigarette. I asked him: what is this? He said „God’s gift to the suffering people.”
